MYSPACE WINNER OF SILVERCHAIR VIDEO COMPETITION ANNOUNCED

MySpace.com today announced the winner of its latest competition, in which users were given the chance to direct a Silverchair video. People were able to make their own video for the bands recently released single "Straight Lines" and share it with the world.

The initiative is an Australian first in online and music interaction.

Over 78 videos were posted online, using unedited footage of the band performing Straight Lines, the first single and video from the band’s eagerly awaited new album, Young Modern. They then edited together the coolest video possible using the tools provided online.

The top five videos were determined by the most number of views made by fellow MySpace users. In total, the videos attracted more than 1.8 million views.

The members of Silverchair had the final say on the winner, Tani Budini, from Queensland.

Budini’s video was aired on Australia’s number one music television show, Video Hits (Channel Ten) today. She will be presented with a signed gold album plaque as well as a copy of the band’s new album, Young Modern, which is released nationally on March 31.
