If you can't open for 'em, do it on your own (or at least with mom and/or dad in tow).
The Aussie grunge wunderkids, silverchair, have announced their own headlining tour of North America starting Nov. 25 in San Diego.
The trio was slated to open for the Red Hot Chili Peppers on their arena tour, but the band was forced to postpone after drummer Chad Smith broke his wrist last week while playing baseball. The Chili Peppers tour has been put off until at least late February.
"It's a bummer that we'll have to wait until next year to see the Chili Peppers," says silverchair singer/guitarist Daniel Johns. "We're just happy to be out there playing gigs at all. It's still heaps better than sitting at home doing nothing."
silverchair's debut, frogstomp was just certified platinum and the band has
been booked to appear on Saturday Night Live on Dec. 9.
