Silverchair Singer's Black Day
Music News of the World

Daniel Johns' mother is probably breathing a sigh of relief that silverchair's American tour supporting the Red Hot Chili Peppers (which was due to begin today) has been called off. The tour is off because of the Chili's drummer Chad Smith's broken wrist. Johns' mom is still recovering from her son's ill-fated stage dive at a concert in Melbourne, Australia two weeks ago. silverchair's lead singer jumped into the crowd, but instead of catching the singer, fans just let him fall to the floor. Adding insult to injury, the "fans" then rushed him and pulled off his pants, and then made away with them. Johns, 16, who makes a habit of stage diving, was rushed to Alfred Hospital in Melbourne, where he spent a restless night, slipping in and out of consciousness. Miraculously he was back on his feet the next day, and was back on stage two days later. Johns hasn't had the best of luck at his shows recently. Last September a full bottle of beer caught him over his left eye when the band performed a free show at the Santa Monica Pier in California. Amazingly he was able to finish the show, but was later rushed to the hospital where he received six stitches.
