Clash
Tribute Album
Launch

February 3, 1999
After a delay pushed back the release date of the much-talked-about
homage album Burning London: The Clash Tribute, the record is now due to be released.
With a stellar lineup, the album promises to capture the melting-pot of styles that set the group apart from the English punk pack back in the 1970s.
Acts paying their respects include silverchair (London's Burning).
"I first listened to the Clash because I heard that they were a big influence on some of my favorite bands like Black Flag and Minor Threat," says Daniel Johns of silverchair, whose members weren't yet born when London's Burning first appeared on the Clash's self-titled 1977 debut.
"The early stuff has got attitude."
Proceeds from the record will benefit The Children's Hospital Of Los Angeles High Risk Youth
Program, an organization chosen by Clash singer, guitarist and co-founder Joe Strummer.
